Kenong Rimba Park (rimba means jungle in Malay) is located at the fringe of Taman Negara on its eastern and northern boundaries. Kenong Rimba Park, situated in the valleys of the Kenong River
This green precinct covers a sprawling 128 square kilometres of Pahang‘s tropical rainforest. Kenong Rimba Park, just like Taman Negara and Endau-Rompin State Park, contains one of the oldest rainforests in the world, estimated at more than 130 million years old.

Immerse yourself in the tranquillity of this park — well known for being one of the best wildlife reserves in Malaysia. Take a extreme 4WD experience, exploring the cave along beautiful jungle trails, enjoying the river cruise along Jelai River and seek out the myriad wonders of nature.

Kenong Rimba Park is home to pockets of limestone caves, which have become the destination of spelunking enthusiasts. The crystal clear waters that flow through the park and high cascading waterfalls are exotic backdrops to a large array of flora and fauna, some unique to the Malaysian rainforests.

 

You can find decent and comfortable chalets at reasonable prices at the Lost World Chalet or you can choose to camp at designated sites, at Kenong Rimba Park. And of course the most beautiful campsite is definitely at Sungai Kenong, with nature’s own cooling "swimming pool" at Lubuk Putri, for you to swim in.

HISTORY

Kenong Rimba Park has been found by the people long time ago, this park formerly is hunting ground for ancient people. A place for aborigines (orang asli) to hunting for food and others jungle goods. Name kenong is originally from the name of Kenong River. The words "kenong" is from old pahang language, the original word is "Ke Nun" means far away. the reason they put the name is because there to far away to reach kenong at that time, its take many day of walking. After a few generation the word "Ke Nun" change to "kenong".

Well, it is believed that these caves and traces of the defensive walls were the defence perimeters and used as hideouts,and had been made by the Pahang Malay nationalistic warrior and hero, Datuk Bahaman, and his followers during their short war against the British colonizers in the late 1890s.

KENONG MANAGEMENT

After many years of silent, Kenong Rimba Park come to life when its been put under a new management last year. Kenong Rimba Park now is under management of Arif Event Management (AEM). All facilities and the entrance of tourist is under AEM management.

     

ABUNDANT FLORA & FAUNA

Heighten your senses as you traverse the forest and see if you can identify the myriad unique species of flora. Exotic and sometimes rare genuses of orchids ding and thrive on the mammoth trunks of trees like a big brother caring for a sibling — such is the complementary nature of life in the wilds. A Spot the tallest recorded tree in the rainforest — the Tualang (Koompasia malaccensis), which often reach to a height of 150 feet or more. Another giant of the forest is the ficus tree, which often times are found tightly-wrapped around other trees.

CAVES GALORE
Many of Kenong‘s caves remain undiscovered and unexplored despite the numerous expeditions launched into the area over the years. lt is such state of pristineness that makes spelunking in the area a very attractive proposition, given the fact that the interior of the caves may change from time to time due to the ravages of weather.

The trek around Gunung Kesong (Kesong Mountain ) will take about an hour and there are camp sites at the Sungai Kenong riverbanks. Near Gunung Kenong there are more caves, i.e., Gua Hijau (Green Cave), Gua Buta (Blind Cave), and Gua Harimau (Tiger Cave). These are popular caves in which visitors to Kenong Rimba Park love to explore.

The walk from Gunung Kesong (Campsite) using Pelanduk Trail to Gua Batu Tangga, Gua Tangkup and Gua Telahup take about two hour walking. Along the trail is a nice place for birds lover because you could see many birds along ther trail. 

Legend has lt that the dug out shape of Gua Batu Tinggi was formed when a boat carrying the King‘s messenger along Kenong River from Pekan was turned into stone. Here you’ll find that the Sungai Kenong ("Kenong River") passes beneath the cave and flows out slowly. Home to a variety of exotic orchids. Its proximity to other caves, makes a visit worth the effort.

 A new cave founded in the end of 2013, Gua Purba (Ancient Cave) is the most beautiful cave among the other has a magnificent views from the top of the cave with spiral-root of Kiara Tree. As the name given this Purba Cave have ancient painting inside the cave with modern house look like interior.

LATA TUJUH (Seven Step Waterfall)

Air Terjun Tujuh Tingkat ("Seven-step waterfalls") - the ultimate destination for our excursion. And what a beauty!! ...And the waters so coolling!In fact this 7- step waterfalls is the major attraction of the Park, and is known for its turbulent rapids that flows through rugged rocky terrain. You will enjoying fishing and camping by the riverbank. Myth say that this Seven-step Waterfall is guard by 7 Bunian Princess ( Bunian is magical creature).  

BIRDS WATCHING

Kenong Rimba Park is a heaven to bird watchers and nature lovers. The park is home to about 200 species of wild birds. Murai Batu (copsuchus malabaricus) is prized by bird lovers for their singing ability. Occasionally, hornbills and fishing eagles make their presence felt.

JUMP-OFF TOWN, KUALA LIPIS

The jump-off town to Kenong Rimba Park is Kuala Lipis.

Kuala Lipis is about 180 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur and 250 kilometers from Kuantan.

If you drive from Kuala Lumpur, take the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway and turn left to Bentong and proceed through Raub and Benta before you reach Kuala Lipis.

If you’re from Kuantan, take the road to Temerloh and turn right to Jerantut and follow the signboard to Kuala Lipis and it’s straight to the town.

You can also take the KTM train from Johor Bahru from the south or at Gua Musang in Kelantan or from Kuala Lumpur, and stop at the Kuala Lipis train station. The Transnational Express bus also has services from major towns like Kuala Lumpur or Kuantan to Kuala Lipis.
